How to get to Drake Bay?

By Car to Sierpe

From San Jose can choose between the Interamerican Highway (San Isidro) or along the Costanera Sur (Quepos and Dominical) and get to Palmar Norte; after the Térraba bridge take right to Sierpe (approximate 6 hours). Once in Sierpe you can keep your car in one of the parking lots and take a boat that will bring you to Drake in approximate 1 hour tour.

Boats from Sierpe to Drake are leaving at 11:30 am and 3.30 pm. Remember to bring a plastic bag for your electronic devices because it is common to get wet during the journey.

By car to Drake

From San Jose you take one of the two ways (inter-American or Costanera) to Palmar Norte, then continue to the gas station at Chacharita, take the right road to Puerto Jiménez and stop in Rincón de Osa; before the bridge take the right road ( one hour and a half more less )to Drake Bay. If you come by car to Drake, preferably with a 4 x 4 one because you have to cross several rivers and in the rainy season it is common that they get high.


Bus to Palmar Norte

One day before you should buy the ticket bus from San Jose to Palmar Norte, using one of the two roads mentioned before. About 6 hours approximately (TRACOPA, 18/20 avenues, 5 Street) If you take the bus that departs at 5:00 am, it will be in Palmar at 11:00 am approximately and there you can take a taxi to take the first boat. (Boats leave at 11:30 am and 3:30 pm)

Plane

You can travel with SANSA (International Airport) or NATURE AIR (Tobías Bolaños, Pavas airport) (lasts 45 min approx) once at the airport, a taxi bring you to Drake (coordinate transportation before). To purchase tickets online: www.flysansa.com,  and www.natureair.com
